Facial Exercises for Reducing Double Chin

A double chin is a subcutaneous fat around the neck that sags down and creates wrinkles, giving the appearance of a second chin. It is most common in people who are elderly or obese. It is more visible when the lower jaw is lowered or the head is tilted down.

How To Do Simple Face Clean-up at Home

Hello Gorgeous Ladies,

Today, I will be writing about face clean-up technique that I follow at home and which I adhere to. This procedure of face clean-up suits my skin type as I use all the products which are tried and tested on my skin and which do not harm/discolor or tend to breakout my skin. I have combination skin with an excessive oily T-zone and my skin is acne-prone Hence, I prefer to use products which do not have any harmful chemicals or complex substances. This isn’t any fancy clean-up, just a few simple steps for a healthy-looking supple skin. So, let’s get started on the products used and steps to be followed.

How to Get Rid of Whiteheads

WhiteheadsWhiteheads are small white bumps caused by clogged skin pores. Thus, they are similar to blackheads. However, unlike blackheads they appear white or yellow in color.

The reason is that the sebum, dirt, dead skin cells, etc. trapped in the skin pores do not get exposed to the oxygen in the air as the follicles have narrow opening to the skin surface.

27 Home Remedies for Pimples

Dab a little lemon juice on it. The astringent properties in lemon juice will suck out some of the oil and shrink the blemish. Wash off before going in the sun, though, as this could bleach your face and make it more sensitive to the sun.
  • A teeny, tiny clay mask will fix it. If you need clay, go here (and you need clay, I promise):Mountain Rose Herbs. So a search for “cosmetic clay” and

Skin care: Tips for dry skin

External factors are the most common underlying cause and the easiest when it comes to address conditions like dry skin.

But not just season change even internal factors too play a vital role in maintaining the skin. Internal factors like overall health, age, genetics, family history and external factors like cold temperature, low humidity affect the texture of the skin.

Winter season can be brutal on your skin, since cold temperatures often mean low humidity, which dries out the skin. A dry skin looks dull and lacks lustre. The mainstay of winters is to hydrate the skin and replenish the lost moisture. Hydration of the body is very important as it makes for a healthy functioning of the system and youthful looking skin.

Skin can be hydrated in two ways-internally by drinking an adequate amount of water, taking oil supplements and externally by using products that hydrate and moisturize.

The skin type differs for every individual. It makes good sense to have a customized regime to achieve a healthy skin. The basic rules remain the same, albeit the products can be altered as per the skin type.

The first step involves washing your face with a gentle water soluble cleanser. It should not have any agents like alcohol witch hazel or even salicylic acid. The cleansing should ideally be done twice daily.

Exfoliation is a process to slough off the dead skin cells and helps reveal fresh and healthy skin. It can be done using mild granular scrubs. This is best done once a week.

Moisturizing is a vital step in skin care regime. It is a misconception that oily skin does not need moisturisers. Oily skin also needs hydration, but yes considering the fact that an oily skin is prone to comedones and acne, a little attention should be paid whilst selecting the moisturiser. It should be non-comedogenic and oil-free.

Use sunscreen each day to protect your skin. No matter what type of skin you have, an oil-free sunscreen used each morning before you go outside can help your skin stay looking young, fresh and keep it healthy.

Dry skin/normal skin: Mix 1 tsp of malai and a pinch of turmeric and 4-5 drops of olive oil. Apply it and leave it to dry, wash and pat dry.

Oily skin: Mix 2 tsp of raw milk or milk powder, add 2 tsp of cucumber juice and few drops of lemon. Apply this on your face with a cotton ball. Allow it dry. Wash with cold water and pat dry.

Combination skin: For the T-zone area on your face, you can apply a mud-pack once in a week to keep the sebum production under control and to hydrate the rest of the face, use a fruit based pack. Rub ice on the T-zone to help tighten the pores.

Drinking water helps in flushing toxins out of your body and eliminates the pollutants that are present in the bloodstream.

Complement this with creams that are rich in nourishing elements such as almond oil, cocoa and shea butter amongst others.

Alternatively one can also massage almond oil or olive oil on the skin (can be used on face as well in case of acne-free skin).

5 Tips for Natural Skin Care

Tip 1: Give Yourself a Dry Brush Exfoliation

A dry brush exfoliation can be done in the morning before you shower. It eliminates dead skin cells and allows the skin to detox (skin is the largest organ of elimination). Dry brush exfoliation also improves lymph and blood circulation and decreases puffiness. An added benefit is that the gentle pressure is calming to the nervous system. To give yourself a dry brush exfoliation, you'll need a soft, natural bristle brush.

Get gorgeous at every age

Experts Simal Soin, Chytra Anand and Rashmi Shetty suggest skin care products that you should include in your daily care regime, starting as early as your 20s.

"Skin starts ageing at 25, as hormone development ceases at this stage and the skin cycle starts to slow down with decreased cell turnover," says Anand. "You may think that all you need to do in your 20s is wash your face and that too once in a while. But you must remember what you subject your skin to now in terms of skincare, lifestyle and nutrition will dictate what will become of your skin and what it looks like at 40 and 50," adds Shetty.

As you age, the demands of your skin change accordingly. "You change your diet as you age, so why should your skin care routine be any different? What works for your skin at 20 just won?t do at 40 and by the time you hit 60, almost every woman needs a richer, more hydrating regime to combat the dryness that comes with ageing," says Soin.

Looking good doesn't always have to mean botox and fillers. Follow our guide to essential products that correspond with your age and meet most of your skin requirements. Reorganise your beauty shelf every decade and look your best at every stage.

20-30 Years

Skin at this age looks radiant, youthful and supple but you do need to take care.

Cleanser: Although your skin requires minimal care at this stage, it is essential to cleanse it thoroughly. Try a PH balanced, soap-free face wash.

Sunscreen: Exposure to the sun ages the skin quicker than anything else. Don?t leave home without some sunscreen. Use SPF 26 or higher for best results.

Moisturiser: Skin cells start losing their elasticity and moisture at this age. Use a moisturiser that suits your skin to minimise these effects.

Night Cream: Start using night creams with Alpha Hydroxy acid (AHA) and peptides. These ingredients boost your hydration and cell turnover.

30-40 Years

These are the make-or-break years for your skin. Take the best care you can.

Exfoliant: Dead skin and clumped melanin make skin look dull. Exfoliate every night with a very gentle scrub. This will help slough away most dead skin cells.

Hydrant: Some unwanted expression lines will now start to show on your face. Intense hydration will plump up your skin, making these lines appear less visible.

Undereye Cream: The structural fat underneath the skin starts to shift or regress now. An under eye cream with Q10 will also be beneficial to fight under-eye hollows.

Retinol Creams: Use at night to fight fine lines and wrinkles, and increase cell turnover. Or try night creams with a de-pigmenting agent like arbutane, kojic acid and licorice.

Oral Supplement: By now, hormones are also starting to play a part in the ageing process. Taking oral antioxidant supplements like Vitamin A, C and E is advisable.

40-50 Years

Estrogen levels fall in these years, so ensure you follow a strict skincare regime.

Anti Ageing Serum: Use serums with skin proteins and nutrients, or creams that contain hyaluronic acid, anti-oxidants, copper peptides, kinetin, coenzyme.

Retin-A Creams: At this stage one should start the use of Retin A .05% at least twice a week. This provides hydration and increases cell turnover.

Vitamin K creams: The structural fat underneath the skin will shift and regress now. Use under eye creams with Vitamin K which stabilizes the capillary walls.

Intense Moisturisers: As you near menopause your skin becomes dry and dehydrated. Use a heavy moisturizer that contains glycerol and ceramics.

Estrogen Creams: Diminish collagen breakdown, reduce wrinkles and tearing and bruising of skin. But ensure you consult a doctor before use.

Special Products: Use skin products containing ingredients like hydroxy acids and Vitamin B3 to enhance skin tone and texture as much as possible.
